1. Acceptance of Terms
By using the services of Parcel Express (“we,” “our,” “us”), you (“the customer,” “you”) agree to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before using our services. Your continued use constitutes acceptance of these terms.
2. Services Provided
Parcel Express provides freight forwarding, courier, and package handling services from our U.S. warehouse to Jamaica. We also offer customs clearance, local delivery, and pickup services from our Junction, St. Elizabeth and Savanna-La-Mar, Westmoreland locations.
3. Customer Responsibility
- Customers must ensure that all information provided, including name, address, contact number, and package details, is accurate and complete.
- Customers are responsible for ensuring that items shipped comply with Jamaican customs regulations and do not include prohibited or restricted goods.
- Parcel Express is not responsible for any delays, confiscations, or fines resulting from inaccurate or incomplete declarations.
4. Prohibited and Restricted Items
The following items will not be accepted for shipment:
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives, or weapons
- Illegal drugs, controlled substances, or paraphernalia
- Perishable goods, live animals, or plants
- Hazardous materials, flammable items, or toxic chemicals
- Cash, precious stones, or valuable documents
- Any items prohibited by Jamaican or U.S. law
Parcel Express reserves the right to open and inspect any package if necessary to ensure compliance with safety or customs regulations.
5. High-Value Items
- Phones, starlink devices, laptops, tablets, electronics, and other high-value items are shipped entirely at the customer’s risk, unless otherwise stated in writing.
- Parcel Express will not be held responsible for loss, damage, or theft of such items during transit, customs inspection, or local handling.
- Customers are strongly encouraged to purchase insurance coverage for high-value shipments at the time of processing.
6. Liability and Insurance
- Parcel Express exercises reasonable care in handling packages. However, we are not liable for loss, damage, or delay caused by:
- Acts of God, natural disasters, or weather-related events
- Customs inspection, seizure, or delay
- Improper packaging or labeling by the sender
- Delays caused by airlines, shipping carriers, or third parties
- Uninsured shipments are limited to a maximum compensation of US$100 or the declared value, whichever is less.
- Customers must declare the true value of their items and request insurance coverage for additional protection.
- Customer must report packages that are logged at the warehouse and not received within 5 days. Parcel Express will conduct a thorough investigation lasting up to 90 days from the date the claim is filed.
- After the 90-day investigation period, if the package is not located and the claim is valid, compensation will be handled in accordance with our liability policy.
7. Delivery and Pickup
- Packages are available for pickup at our Junction or Savanna-La-Mar offices once cleared and processed.
- Customers will be notified by email when packages are ready.
- Packages not collected within 7 days of arrival may incur storage fees or be considered abandoned and disposed of after 90 days.
8. Customs and Duties
All shipments entering Jamaica are subject to customs inspection, taxes, and duties as determined by the Jamaica Customs Agency. Customers are responsible for all related charges. Parcel Express may assist with customs clearance but does not influence customs decisions or fees.
9. Payment Terms
All charges—including freight, customs, storage, and delivery—must be paid in full before package release. We accept cash, debit/credit cards, and bank transfer.
10. Package Ownership and Abandonment
Ownership of packages remains with the customer until collected. Packages not claimed within the stated period will be disposed of without liability or refund to the customer.
11. Limitation of Liability
Parcel Express shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of income, profits, or opportunity, arising from the use of our services.
12. Changes to Terms
Parcel Express reserves the right to modify or update these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. Updated versions will be posted on our website.
13. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Jamaica. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of Jamaican courts.
